Recently, officers and soldiers from the Gansu Military Region came to Gaji Chunlei Primary School in Liugou Township, Jishishan County again with learning and daily necessities, and were warmly welcomed by teachers and students. On December 18th last year, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in Jishishan County. Gansu Provincial Military Region officers and soldiers, as well as militia, rushed to the disaster stricken areas at night to rescue and resettle the people, clear the affected roads, transport support materials, and fully protect the lives and property safety of the affected people. In response to the damage to some primary school buildings, they urgently opened two tent schools in Meipo Village and Kangdiao Village, and selected officers and soldiers with teaching skills and militia as counselors, establishing a deep relationship with the students. After the rescue work was completed, the Gansu Provincial Military Region has been concerned about the life and learning situation of the children in the disaster area, guiding the People's Armed Forces Department of Jishishan County to conduct on-site visits and research on the resumption of classes in the affected schools in a timely manner. All officers, soldiers, and retired cadres of the Provincial Military Region voluntarily donated money to purchase nearly 4000 backpacks, clothing, and study stationery, and sent them to the severely affected Gaji Chunlei Primary School, Heya Village Primary School, and Kangdiao Village Primary School. "The Gansu Provincial Military Region has always been concerned about the development of Gaji Chunlei Primary School. As early as 2002, it helped us build classrooms and teaching equipment. After the earthquake, the officers and soldiers immediately invested in earthquake relief to help us restore normal teaching order. This time, they also donated living and learning materials, which brought great help to the students' learning and life." said Ma Yuanlong, the principal of Gaji Chunlei Primary School. "I got 100 points in math!" Ma Tianmei is a student at Kangdiao Village Elementary School. After the earthquake, she studied at the tent elementary school built by the Gansu Military Region. After more than three months, she saw Uncle of the People's Liberation Army again and happily reported her academic performance to them. "Children are the future of our country. We have the obligation and responsibility to help children in disaster areas," said the leaders of the Gansu Provincial Military Region. They will continue to pay attention to the post disaster reconstruction of schools and the learning and living conditions of students, and make every effort to help students solve difficulties.
