Recently, the press conference on the "Real time Macroeconomic Monitoring System" was held at Xiamen University. The monitoring system released this time is a macroeconomic econometric model based on big data, which is creatively proposed by leveraging the advantages of Xiamen University's dual first-class disciplines of econometrics and statistics, fully utilizing cutting-edge theories and methods of big data and econometrics. The event was jointly organized by Xiamen University's Macro Economic Research Center, a national level teaching and research platform under the Zouzhizhuang Institute of Economics, the Basic Science Center for Econometric Modeling and Economic Policy Research of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Fujian Provincial Key Laboratory of Statistical Science (Xiamen University). Zheng Tingguo, the leader of the "Macroeconomic Real time Monitoring System" project team and the leader of the Department of Quantitative Economics at Xiamen University, introduced that the system provides daily monitoring values of China's economic condition index, national and regional gross domestic product, national and regional consumer price index, and daily month on month growth rate (inflation rate). It also publishes the macroeconomic situation of BRICS countries and G7 countries, including China, as well as the regional economic development trends of some provinces. At present, the monitoring system has been installed on the website of the Macro Economic Research Center of Xiamen University. Zheng Tingguo stated that the system monitors important national and regional economic indicators in real time, providing new dimensions and information for the Chinese and global economies, providing important technical support and timely decision-making references for governments at all levels to analyze the macroeconomic situation and design economic policies, and providing a new high-frequency data academic research library for macroeconomic research. At the meeting, scholars related to macroeconomics and econometrics from several well-known universities in China analyzed and looked forward to the development trends of China's macroeconomy in 2024, and conducted in-depth discussions around the economic situation and macroeconomic policies in China and the world.
