China Consumers Association releases consumer satisfaction evaluation reports for 100 cities

The China Consumers Association released the "2023 Consumer Satisfaction Evaluation Report for 100 Cities" on the 13th. The report shows that in 2023, the comprehensive score of consumer satisfaction in 100 cities nationwide was 79.92, which is generally at a good level, with 33 cities scoring above the national average. This is the 7th consecutive year that the China Consumers Association has released a city consumer satisfaction evaluation report. The evaluation defines "consumer satisfaction" as the emotional feedback of consumers on consumption supply, consumption environment, and consumer rights protection during the process of purchasing goods or receiving services. It is a subjective feeling measured in the form of a percentage system. The report shows that the overall ranking of the 100 evaluated cities is stable, with 47 cities showing an increase in satisfaction scores. The performance and number of improvements in city scores are better than in 2022. Wuxi, Hangzhou, Foshan, Suzhou, Qingdao, Yantai, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Beijing, and Yichang ranked 1st to 10th in the comprehensive consumer satisfaction score among 100 cities. The results of seven consecutive years of urban consumer satisfaction evaluations indicate that cities with higher total retail sales of consumer goods have relatively higher scores in consumer satisfaction. The 2023 consumer satisfaction evaluation index system consists of three primary indicators, 17 secondary indicators, and 27 tertiary indicators. Among the three primary indicators, the scores of "consumer supply" and "consumer rights protection" have significantly improved compared to 2022. In the fourth quarter of 2023, the China Consumers Association organized a third-party professional survey organization to conduct surveys in 100 tested cities simultaneously, collecting a total of 61812 valid consumer samples. The scope of 100 cities includes municipalities directly under the central government, provincial capital cities, planned cities, and some cities with higher total retail sales of consumer goods. The China Consumers Association will report the specific results of each city's evaluation to the evaluated cities in batches, and organize local consumer associations to conduct in-depth research on further improving consumer satisfaction in the evaluated cities through expert evaluation, consumer research, big data analysis, and other methods. This will provide strong support for promoting the construction of a trustworthy consumption environment, improving the consumer rights protection system and mechanism, and enhancing consumer satisfaction.
