Military and civilian innovation in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, carrying out national defense education

The spring rain is continuous, and all things are thriving. On April 25th, 50 Tibetan and Han students and 3 retired soldiers from Zhangzhou who had made contributions and received awards during their service gathered at the West Lake Campus of Zhangzhou No.1 Middle School in Fujian Province. This is a shot of the "Dialogue between Fujian and Tibetan Students and Heroes" event jointly organized by the conscription office of Xiangcheng District, Zhangzhou City and the Second Military Rest Center of Zhangzhou City. Zhangzhou No.1 Middle School is a national defense education demonstration school, where revolutionary martyrs such as Gao Jiecheng and Wang Zhanchun, known as the "Red Banker", graduated. Since 2002, Zhangzhou No.1 Middle School has successively recruited more than 600 Tibetan students from the snowy plateau, and currently has more than 130 Tibetan students enrolled. For many years, young people from Fujian and Tibet have been helping each other, loving each other, and growing into talents. "I hope all the students present here can contribute their strength to the national defense cause in the future!" Li Ming, one of the top ten loyal guards of the Chinese People's Armed Police, and a first-class hero, spoke eloquently. Li Ming was once a member of the People's Armed Police Special Operations team and was awarded the "Warrior Medal" by the People's Armed Police. He was awarded the First Class Merit once, the Second Class Merit once, and the Third Class Merit three times. Listening to Li Ming's story of joining the military, the students occasionally applauded. "Have you ever been afraid during the task execution?" "What was the most unforgettable part of the training?" During the interactive session, students such as Ba Zongram and Zhang Hongyue asked curiously, and Li Ming patiently answered one by one. "To become a soldier, one must become an elite soldier, and what others can do, we can also do it." From "hairy boy" to "special operations elite" and then to "sea eagle", Hong Junxin, who has twice won second class honors, shared with his classmates his struggle from the army to the navy. When Hong Junxin talked about his experience of winning places in overseas competitions and bringing glory to his country, students on the field praised him one after another. As a volunteer, what I want to do is to do every small thing well while always maintaining the military identity that never fades after being discharged. Retired soldier Chen Qiaoping never stopped learning during her service and has successively obtained qualifications such as Intermediate Nurse and Second Level Medical Ambulance Officer. After transferring to a local job in 2023, she joined the volunteer team as soon as possible to continue shining brightly. Next, Li Ming and Hong Junxin, two meritorious figures, respectively brought tactical action performances and explained their knowledge of weapons and equipment to the students; Members of the Gesang Flower Art Troupe from Zhangzhou No.1 Middle School brought Tibetan dance, showcasing the charm of Tibetan culture and pushing the event to a climax. At the end of the event, the staff of the conscription office in Xiangcheng District seized the opportunity to distribute conscription brochures to students, explain conscription policies, and stimulate their enthusiasm for joining the military.
