2024-04-07

Ten miles of Qinhu Lake, ten thousand poles like a forest, surging waves. One ship, one scenery, one realm. Each tribute ship passed by, causing waves of applause and cheers from the audience on site. The 2024 Taizhou Jiangyan Qintong Boat Festival opened on the 6th at the Qinhu National Wetland Park in Jiangyan District, Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province. This year's Boat Festival has meticulously crafted themed tribute ships such as "Dragon Blessing Three Waters", "Dragon Flying Phoenix Dance", "Dragon Teng Qinhu", "Dragon Revitalizing Jiangcheng", "Fish Leaping Dragon Gate", "Dragon Walking Dragon", and "Vitality Jiangyan". Through rich forms of nationalization, artistry, and imagery, it fully showcases the new style of economic construction and social development in Jiangyan. The national intangible cultural heritage of Qintong Huichuan has a long history, dating back to the Southern Song Dynasty. It can be regarded as a grand view of folk culture and an exhibition of water town customs. More than 400 pole boats sailed through the wind and waves, and the pole bearers bravely stood at the tide, raising and lowering their poles, showcasing the uplifting spirit of the people of the water town. This year's Boat Festival series of activities are more prominent in terms of openness and linkage, inviting boat people from surrounding counties and cities to participate together, and the radiation and influence of boat festivals are constantly expanding; More prominent in inheritance and innovation, young people transform into sailors, board boats and support poles, and the "boat culture" shines with new brilliance; More emphasis will be placed on universal sharing, and a series of activities will be launched that cover the whole year and are suitable for all ages. It is understood that this year's Ship Festival series of activities will continue until October. (Lai Xin She)
