Two new genetic markers can identify type ⅱ diabetes

2024-04-02

Researchers from the Russian National Medical University of Akira have studied the relationship between certain genetic markers and metabolic parameters, which are responsible for pancreatic function and tissue sensitivity to insulin. These genetic markers can identify a person's susceptibility to carbohydrate metabolic disorders and the development of type II diabetes. The relevant research results are published in the Journal of Experimental Biology and Medicine. When examining 64 people with early carbohydrate metabolic disorder, the researchers found that when the development of carbohydrate disease is a reversible process, people prone to type II diabetes can still prevent this disease during this period. Researchers said that two new genetic markers TCF7L2 and PPARG can identify the susceptibility to type II diabetes. The research process confirmed the relationship between the analyzed genetic markers and the progress of diabetes in early stage (at this time, the blood sugar level has been higher than the normal level, but has not reached the value corresponding to the diagnosis of diabetes), as well as the development of type II diabetes. These markers are associated with carbohydrate metabolism indicators and cardiovascular risk factors (elevated triglyceride levels and arterial hypertension). The researchers pointed out that the inclusion of genetic markers in the research program of patients with pre diabetes can predict type II diabetes with a high probability, and create a personalized treatment method for patients with early carbohydrate metabolic disorder to prevent the development of disease.
