The classic Broadway musical "The Sound of Music" will be performed at the Theatre Centre in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong from April 16th to June 9th. The classic play (also known as "The Legend of the Fairy") produced by Broadway International Group and China International Culture Group, a subsidiary of the Bauhinia Culture Group, has attracted widespread attention and received enthusiastic market response in Hong Kong. Some of the shows even sparked a nationwide mobilization of citizens to compete for tickets online. The organizers have decided to add 24 shows at the request of the audience. The musical "The Sound of Music" is adapted from the work of Austrian Maria von Trapp's "Trapp Family Concert", composed by Richard Rogers, a timeless "golden partner" on Broadway, and written by Oscar Hammerstein II. The story of this drama takes place in Austria before World War II. Navy Colonel von Trapp runs his family like a military after his wife's death. His seven children have rebellious personalities, and the young and lively nun Maria is appointed as their family tutor by the monastery. Maria's arrival changed this family. She taught the children how to sing, won their love with interesting teaching, and melted the colonel's cold heart with music. After its release, the series won Tony Awards, Grammy Awards, and Academy Awards, making it one of the highest grossing works in the history of musicals. It has performed over 4000 times on Broadway in New York and West End in London, setting a Guinness record for the highest number of viewers in a week. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the premiere of "The Sound of Music". The international tour of Hong Kong showcases a variety of highlights, bringing together top musical actors and production teams from around the world. Directed by Jack O'Brien, who has won the highest award in musicals three times, this tour provides a new look and experience for classic works with deeper character relationships and richer human colors. During the approximately two-and-a-half-hour performance, classic songs such as "Doraemon", "Edelweiss", and "Lonely Shepherd" will be presented brilliantly. With modern stage facilities and advanced lighting and sound systems, audiences will be able to relive the shock and emotion brought by this classic musical. (Lai Xin She)
