On the 21st, Chinese Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Geng Shuang, called on the international community to work together to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Syria and promote a political solution to the Syrian issue. Geng Shuang stated at the open meeting on Syrian political and humanitarian issues at the Security Council that with the joint efforts of the Syrian government and the United Nations, cross-border rescue points have been effectively operational. China urges relevant parties to actively cooperate and make progress in cross line rescue efforts. At the same time, the international community should also increase humanitarian aid to Syria and provide sufficient and targeted financial support for early recovery projects throughout Syria. Unilateral sanctions and resource plunder have long hindered Syria's economic recovery, social development, and improvement of people's livelihoods. China urges relevant countries to immediately cease their illegal activities, and foreign military forces to immediately end their illegal military presence in Syria. Geng Shuang said that we need to promote a political solution to the Syrian issue. The recent Arab League Foreign Ministers' Meeting reiterated its firm support for Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its opposition to external interference. China believes that assistance from regional countries will be beneficial in injecting new impetus into the political resolution of the Syrian issue. China welcomes the United Nations Secretary General's Special Envoy for Syria, Pei Kairu, to engage extensively with all parties on the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2254. The international community should uphold the principle of "Syrian ownership, Syrian leadership", encourage dialogue and consultation, and find solutions that are acceptable to all parties. Terrorism is a long-term threat to the political process in Syria. China welcomes the relevant measures taken by the Syrian government to combat terrorism and maintain security and stability. The international community must combat all terrorism within Syria with a zero tolerance attitude. Geng Shuang said that since the outbreak of the current Israeli Palestinian conflict, Israel has frequently launched air strikes on multiple locations within Syria, seriously violating Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity. China is deeply concerned about this. In the context of the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel, all parties must exercise restraint and avoid exacerbating tensions, triggering hot spot resonance, and spreading the conflict. Major countries outside the region should play a constructive role in promoting a cooling of the situation. The international community should also make double efforts to jointly control the conflict in Gaza, taking the unconditional ceasefire of Ramadan as the starting point, promoting a permanent ceasefire to stop violence, and injecting more positive energy into the peace and stability of the entire Middle East region, including Syria.
