On the occasion of the 29th World Reading Day, the "Reading Love · Love Reading -2024 World Reading Day Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Creative Competition Excellent Works Exhibition" will be exhibited simultaneously in public libraries in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau on the 23rd, showcasing the reading and creative achievements of the new generation in the Greater Bay Area. The 2024 World Reading Day Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Creative Competition is jointly organized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department, and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government. It is jointly organized by the Guangdong Provincial Zhongshan Library, the Hong Kong Public Library, and the Macao Public Library. The competition focuses on the theme of "Reading Love · Love Reading", encouraging primary and secondary school students in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau to share sincere emotions and perceive the beauty of love and reading through reading and creation. Teenagers from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao actively participate in it. The students from the Three Districts Junior High School group coincidentally focused on the love of family, animals, and books, showcasing their childlike love through various art forms such as watercolor, sketching, and collage. Students from three groups, primary, middle, and high school, draw different inspirations and insights from books such as "Bronze Sunflower", "Me and the Temple of Earth", and "To Live", and express them in writing. The reading attention directions of teenagers in the three regions also show different characteristics: Guangdong students pay attention to current social hot topics and interpret the meaning of love and reading from multiple perspectives; The works of Hong Kong participating students have warm and powerful language, showing unique insights into themselves, family, friendship, and other aspects; The participating students in the Macau region will explore local characteristic stories and closely connect reading creation with cultural inheritance. The relevant person in charge of Guangdong Provincial Zhongshan Library stated that primary and secondary school students in the Greater Bay Area, based on shared cultural resources, interact, learn from each other, and complement each other in reading and creation, fully presenting a delicate perception of reading and love, and a common recognition of cultural emotions. Next, on the basis of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Excellent Works Tour, the organizers will further carry out in-depth face-to-face communication among students. On April 27th, representatives of award-winning students from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao will gather at the Central Library of Hong Kong to share stories of reading and creation, and freely talk about their love for the library and reading.
