How to prevent Norovirus infection? These aspects are very important

The National Health Commission held a press conference on the 19th to introduce the relationship between seasonal solar terms and health (spring equinox). At the meeting, Chang Zhaorui, a researcher at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, introduced that March is still the season of Norovirus outbreak. The most common symptoms after being infected with Norovirus are vomiting and diarrhea, followed by nausea, abdominal pain, headache, fever, chills, and muscle soreness. Chang Zhaorui stated that norovirus is transmitted through fecal oral routes, with various modes of transmission, including consuming food and water contaminated with the virus, direct contact with the patient's vomit or indirect contact with contaminated environments and surfaces, and ingestion of aerosols containing norovirus. Chang Zhaorui pointed out that in order to prevent norovirus infection, the following aspects should be achieved: first, wash hands frequently, clean hands before meals, after using the toilet, before processing food, and after going out and returning home. It is recommended to use soap or hand sanitizer and wash with running water for more than 20 seconds. Secondly, attention should be paid to food safety. Do not drink raw water, but rather boiled water and bottled water. Wash vegetables and fruits thoroughly before consumption. When cooking and processing food, it is important to separate raw and cooked foods to avoid cross contamination and ensure that the food we eat is fully cooked, especially when consuming shellfish products. When dining out, choose a restaurant with good hygiene conditions. The third is to do a good job in daily cleaning and ventilation of the living room, ensure the cleanliness of kitchen utensils, and dispose of garbage in a timely manner. The fourth is to carry out standardized disinfection. If family members experience symptoms of gastroenteritis, their vomit and excrement should be treated in a standardized manner, and contaminated environments and surfaces should be thoroughly disinfected with chlorine containing disinfectants. Regularly disinfect areas and parts such as door handles, toilet buttons, and bathrooms that come into frequent contact and are prone to virus contamination. Fifthly, if infected, try to rest at home and reduce close contact with others. For employees in special positions, such as chefs, caregivers, and delivery drivers, do not work while sick. Schools and childcare institutions, which are places where people gather, are high-risk areas for norovirus. Daily prevention and control measures should be implemented, and the morning and afternoon inspection system should be strictly enforced. Attendance tracking and epidemic reporting should be implemented due to illness to ensure food and drinking water safety. Regular cleaning and disinfection of the environment should be done, and vomit should be disposed of in a standardized manner. This is also a very important link. Finally, it is necessary to promote and educate on the prevention and control of norovirus, and enhance the awareness and ability of teachers and students to cope with norovirus prevention and control.
