The key to overcoming 'post holiday syndrome' is to actively adjust one's state

The Spring Festival holiday has ended, and the workers have returned to their familiar desks. However, some people's biological clocks are still stuck in the relaxed and comfortable state of "late night snacks with Spring Festival Gala", and have not yet stepped out of the psychological comfort zone created by holidays. Symptoms such as sleep disorders, addiction to mobile phones, fatigue and anxiety are flooding in, and "post holiday syndrome" is reported as scheduled. At the end of each long holiday, medical experts will promptly popularize knowledge about "post holiday syndrome" and provide corresponding strategies. From a medical perspective, 'post holiday syndrome' is not strictly a disease, but a temporary discomfort caused by changes in lifestyle habits during long holidays. Nevertheless, these discomfort symptoms are truly affecting the post holiday state of workers, making many more reluctant to restart their work mode. The unique "Spring Festival travel rush" in China has caused hundreds of millions of migrant workers to switch back and forth between different dialect systems, dietary habits, and social etiquette in a short period of time. This environmental change has brought considerable psychological pressure and has become an important cause of "post holiday syndrome". Returning to our hometown, we immerse ourselves in the familiar local music and the warmth of family. When we return to our workplace, we have to quickly adapt to the fast-paced work and complex environment. In such contrast, both our body and mind need some time to buffer. In addition, various social gatherings, visits to relatives and friends during the holiday, both physically and mentally, are in a highly excited state. The return to calmness after the holiday may make people feel a certain sense of loss or disappointment. Some people jokingly say that we not only have "post holiday syndrome", but also "Monday syndrome" and "Sunday afternoon anxiety disorder", which seem to make people feel a lot of pressure whenever it comes to work. But looking at it from a different perspective, although holidays are lively, they are also accompanied by many intangible pressures. Going to work means regaining a sense of control over life, realizing self-worth in work, and finding one's own rhythm. For individuals, actively adjusting their state is the key to overcoming 'post holiday syndrome'. Psychologically, it may be helpful to try some positive meditation, taking a few minutes each day to calm down, eliminate distractions, and focus on the present moment, which can help alleviate inner anxiety and unease. Physically, moderate physical exercise is essential, such as outdoor morning runs, night rides, or indoor yoga and fitness exercises, which can promote blood circulation, enhance brain function, and make energy more abundant. In terms of diet, it is necessary to adjust the dietary structure as soon as possible after the holiday, reduce the intake of greasy and high calorie foods, supplement more vitamins and dietary fiber to repair the "injured" gastrointestinal tract during the holiday. Some companies and organizations have keenly recognized the existence of "post holiday syndrome" and gradually explored effective coping strategies. To alleviate the fatigue and discomfort of employees after the holiday, many companies have put effort into office decoration, incorporating more humanized elements. Some companies carefully plan various forms of team building activities, such as outdoor expansion, handicrafts, themed parties, etc., to help employees relieve stress through games and interactions. In addition, providing employees with necessary autonomy is an effective way to enhance their work enthusiasm and efficiency. For example, implementing remote work and staggered attendance under certain conditions can become a "flexible management" option. To alleviate and cure "post holiday syndrome", we may start with simple work, gradually adjust our mentality, biological clock, and work rhythm, and smoothly restore our normal work state and social role. Post holiday syndrome may bring some troubles, but it is also a manifestation of our transition between busyness and relaxation. As long as we actively respond, we can quickly overcome the impact of "post holiday syndrome" and devote ourselves to work and life with full enthusiasm and high fighting spirit, gaining growth and happiness in our struggle.
