On the evening of April 16th, Defense Secretary Dong Jun made a video call with US Defense Secretary Austin as requested. Dong Jun said that the heads of state of China and the United States are committed to promoting the stability and improvement of bilateral relations. The military field is crucial in ensuring the implementation of the consensus reached by the heads of state, stabilizing the development of bilateral relations, and preventing major crises from occurring. The two militaries of China and the United States should explore ways to get along, taking peace as the most important, stability as the most important, and trust as the basic principles of communication. On the basis of equality and respect, we should build a military military relationship that is free from conflict and confrontation, open and pragmatic cooperation, and gradually accumulate mutual trust, truly serving as the stable cornerstone for the development of bilateral relations. The current situation in the South China Sea is generally stable, and regional countries have the willingness, wisdom, and ability to solve problems. The US should recognize China's firm stance, respect China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights in the South China Sea, and take practical actions to maintain regional peace and stable military relations between China and the US.
