39 excellent plays will appear at the 8th National Drama Excellent Play Exhibition

According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in order to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Southwest Drama Exhibition and further promote the prosperity and development of the drama industry, the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Southwest Drama Exhibition and the 8th National Excellent Drama Exhibition, hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, will be held from April 17th to May 23rd in Nanning and Guilin, Guangxi. The opening ceremony will be held in Guilin on April 20th. "This event will showcase the fruitful achievements and outstanding talents in the national drama art creation in recent years, review and summarize the historical contributions and practical significance of the Southwest Drama Exhibition, and hold a series of exciting activities such as drama exhibitions, one drama evaluation, special seminars, art exchanges, and performances benefiting the people." Huang Xiaoju, Deputy Director of the Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, said in an interview with reporters. This exhibition features a gathering of famous dramas, troupes, and artists, with a total of 34 large-scale plays and 5 small theater plays selected. There are not only the play "Teacher Guimei" that won the 17th Wenhua Awards, but also the performances from the 13th China Art Festival such as "North Courtyard of Bakuo Street" and "Babusha", as well as popular shows in the entertainment market such as "Symmetry Breaking" and "Frontline". The participating theaters not only include national level theaters such as the China National Theatre, the China Coal Mine Art Troupe, and the All China Federation of Trade Unions Art Troupe, but also outstanding theaters in the field of drama such as the Beijing People's Art, Yangtze River People's Art, Liaoning People's Art, Shaanxi People's Art, and Shanghai Drama Art Center. A group of outstanding drama actors such as Wang Luoyong, Wu Yue, Nie Yuan, Liu Mintao, Shang Daqing, and Li Hongmei will bring wonderful performances. This exhibition will showcase new achievements in drama creation over the past decade. Revolutionary historical dramas such as "Li Shui Feng Yan", "Awakening Era", "Frontline", "East Lake Inn", and "Yanshui Ballad" showcase the great spiritual lineage created by the Party in its century long struggle with a rich stage appearance and profound emotional expression; Dramas with realistic themes such as "Fireworks in the World", "Three Streets and Two Alleys", and "Reflections" focus on the present, portraying the people, depicting the smoke and fire, and reflecting the spirit of the times; Traditional cultural dramas such as Qu Yuan, Su Dongpo, and Confucius trace their historical origins and extract the spiritual imagery and artistic symbols of excellent traditional Chinese culture; Classic repertoire and preserved plays such as "River Street Tea House," "Hidden Dragon," "Camel Xiangzi," and "Big House Gate" are constantly striving for excellence, enriching the spiritual world of the people and enhancing their spiritual strength. In addition, the event also specially invited plays such as "Misty Chongqing" and Guiju "Peach Blossoms with Human Faces" performed during the Southwest Drama Exhibition to participate in the exhibition, reflecting the respect of new era literary and artistic workers for history and their outlook for the future. In order to share the achievements of artistic development with the general public, this exhibition will continue to adopt a combination of online and offline, as well as a combination of performance and broadcasting. 22 selected plays will be selected and opened to the audience through synchronous online live streaming. At the same time, all participating plays are sold to the public at low ticket prices, and multiple policies are introduced to benefit the public, allowing the audience to enter the theater, get close to the plays, and experience the stage charm of drama art on site.
