2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, as well as the China France Cultural Tourism Year. The exhibition "The Forbidden City and the Palace of Versailles - Sino French Relations in the 17th and 18th Centuries", jointly organized by the Palace Museum, the Palace of Versailles, museums, and national garden public institutions, opened on April 1st at the Wenhua Hall of the Palace Museum. The second half of the 17th century to the 18th century is considered the golden age of communication and cultural exchange between the Chinese and French courts. As an important project of the Sino French Cultural Tourism Year, the exhibition is divided into three units: "The Meeting of Dragons and Lilies", "French Scenery in the Forbidden City", and "Chinese Fashion in the Palace of Versailles". The theme is diplomatic, cultural, and artistic exchanges between China and France. Through approximately 200 cultural relics from the Palace Museum, Palace of Versailles, and other collection institutions, the exhibition showcases the political exchange history of mutual respect and appreciation between the two sides over the past century, as well as the cultural exchange history of mutual reference and learning. During the opening ceremony, the Palace Museum also signed strategic cooperation agreements with the Palace of Versailles in France and the National Museum of Asian Art in Gime. This exhibition is open to the public in the Wenhua Hall of the Palace Museum. Visitors can visit with the Palace Museum ticket and will continue until June 30th. (Lai Xin She)
