On March 28, 2024, with a testing train departing from Lanzhou New Area Station in Gansu Province and heading towards Wuwei East Station in Gansu Province, the joint debugging and trial of the newly built Lanzhou Zhangye high-speed railway Lanzhou Wuwei section (referred to as the "Lanzhang high-speed railway Lanwu section") officially began. The design speed of the Lanzhou Wuhan section of the Lanzhou Zhangjiakou high-speed railway is 250 kilometers per hour. After opening, the running time of trains from Lanzhou to Wuwei will be shortened from the current more than 3 hours to less than 2 hours. The route will improve the layout of the high-speed railway network in the western region, promote the formation of a fast passenger transportation channel in the Hexi Corridor, facilitate the travel of people along the line, and help regional economic development.
