Release of the Qualification Evaluation Rules for Mediators in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area

The Mediation Work Committee of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area released on the 28th the "Evaluation Rules for the Qualification of Mediators in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area" (hereinafter referred to as the "Evaluation Rules") formulated by the three regions based on the "Evaluation Standards for the Qualification of Mediators in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area". The Macau Special Administrative Region's "Evaluation Rules" consist of three chapters and 12 articles, which shall come into effect from the date of publication. The Macau Evaluation Rules mainly stipulate the establishment, powers, and composition of the evaluation committee, as well as the application and evaluation procedures for the recognition of the qualifications and qualifications of mediators, as well as the mechanism for delisting and withdrawal. The promulgation of the "Evaluation Rules" in the three regions will be conducive to promoting the establishment of a unified roster of mediators in the Greater Bay Area, achieving mutual recognition of the qualifications of mediators in the three regions, further promoting the application of mediation in the Greater Bay Area, providing legal protection for civil and commercial activities in the Greater Bay Area, and serving the construction of the Greater Bay Area. According to the "Qualification Evaluation Standards for Mediators in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area", the three regions will independently evaluate and recognize mediators according to their respective "Evaluation Rules". After being reviewed and approved by the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Mediation Work Committee, a unified list of mediators in the Greater Bay Area will be formed, submitted to the joint meeting of the legal departments of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area for confirmation, and announced to the public. It is reported that the Macau Review Committee will accept the application for the qualification of a mediator in the Greater Bay Area in October this year, and the Macau SAR Legal Affairs Bureau will announce the specific application process separately at that time.
