According to the relevant person in charge of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, "AI Lecturer" was developed by a team led by Xu Bin, Professor of Computational Media and Art at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and Director of the Metaverse and Computational Creativity Research Center at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. It uses virtual images to teach courses to students. Their independently developed 3D action generation system makes the produced "AI instructor" actions smoother and more natural. The R&D team collects student feedback after each class to understand the impact of different styles, languages, and expression methods of "AI instructors" on student learning outcomes, and makes targeted adjustments to the "AI instructors". Xu Bin stated that "AI instructors" not only bring new learning experiences to students, but also bring new research directions for digital teaching. The teaching content includes using social media to improve story telling ability, understanding the impact of social media on society, etc., so that students can master the characteristics of social media and learn how to use multimedia technology for related academic research. This course is aimed at students from Hong Kong and Guangzhou campuses for remote synchronous teaching.
