The 2024 Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Public Welfare Annual Conference was officially launched on March 23 in Zhuhai, Guangdong, with the theme of "Public Welfare Culture · Inheritance and Development". Li Bin, Vice Chairman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Song Qingling Foundation of China, attended the event and delivered a speech. Li Bin stated that the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and various partners jointly organized the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Public Welfare Annual Conference, building a bridge for communication, exchange, and integration among young people in the Greater Bay Area and a platform for common pursuit of dreams, promoting young people to actively participate in public welfare, and assisting in the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. It is hoped that the majority of young people will inherit and carry forward the Chinese public welfare culture, cultivate and develop modern public welfare spirit, actively participate in public welfare practice, and contribute their youth strength to the construction of Chinese path to modernization. Subsequently, youth representatives from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao shared their experiences and insights on participating in public welfare activities and volunteer services. Liang Xiyan from Huafa Ronghong School in Zhuhai Hengqin Guangdong Macao Deep Cooperation Zone said that when she participated in the filming of the Chinese charity film "Mad Woman" in 2021, she saw the difficult life of left behind children in rural areas of Shaanxi and became more aware of the significance of helping others. Teaching people to fish is better than teaching them to fish. She is willing to continue to devote herself to public welfare and illuminate the lives of more people. "I can always see sincere and happy smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries, and these smiles also make me empathize with them." said You Haoxue from Wang Jinhui Primary and Secondary School, affiliated with Hong Kong Baptist University. Her childhood exposure to community service and her experience of visiting elderly people living alone have made her more deeply aware of the value of volunteer service - even with a simple gesture, she can spread happiness to others. Huang Jingyou from Macau Huadi Ma Notre Dame Girls' School also shared her volunteer experience. Under the influence of her mother, who is passionate about charity, she often participates in various volunteer activities such as fundraising, donating, and selling flags. In her opinion, volunteering is fulfilling and beautiful. Although it does not require any reward, it can also make many like-minded friends, and can also pass on kindness and love. This year's conference is hosted by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, jointly organized by the Guangdong Soong Ching Ling Foundation, the Hong Kong Scholarship Foundation, and the Macau Foundation. The activities include public welfare project exchange seminars, visits to Zhuhai Space Center, and the "Youth Public Welfare Annual Conference Cup" Greater Bay Area Baseball Invitational. It is reported that the first Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Public Welfare Annual Conference was launched in 2020. Over the past four years, over 300 schools, more than 120 social organizations, and public welfare institutions in the Greater Bay Area have participated in supporting public welfare activities, with nearly a million people online and offline. This year, 103 supporting projects covering 8 categories, including poverty alleviation teaching assistants, public welfare exchange and practice, and cultural inheritance, will be launched one after another.
