The first "World Unity Forum" with the theme of "Intersection of the Earth - Investment Innovation, Welcoming a Sustainable Future" was held in Hong Kong on the 25th. The forum is jointly organized by the School of Sustainable Science and Technology and the World Economic Forum, and aims to promote the implementation of net zero emissions and sustainable transformation goals in Asia and around the world through in-depth dialogue. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the forum, stating that Hong Kong has long been a leading international financial center. In recent years, the SAR government has attached great importance to combating climate change, promoting sustainable development, embracing a green economy, and establishing global cooperation in these key areas. The SAR government has also maintained close cooperation with financial regulatory agencies and the industry, promoting sustainable green finance through multiple measures, and is committed to meeting the low-carbon economic transformation needs in the region. In the future, the SAR government will continue to issue green bonds and expand them to other products to promote green financial technology. Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, stated in a video speech that in order to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and the net zero emissions target by 2050, innovative and designed models of cooperation among political, business, and charitable organizations are needed around the world to help reverse the impact of climate change on the planet. The founder of the School of Sustainable Technology, Luo Baowen, stated that technology is the only solution to accelerate sustainable transformation. As a super contact, Hong Kong has the potential to develop into a global green finance and innovation center, supporting enterprises in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, as well as foreign enterprises interested in coming to Hong Kong, and achieving the transfer of technological elements. According to statistics, the number of participants in the forum on that day exceeded 1000, including climate envoys from around the world, government representatives, heads of international institutions and multilateral development banks, green finance experts, youth leaders, and entrepreneurs.
