Objectify women to cater to men, don't miss out on college love classes

2024-03-15

"The key points of a woman pursuing a man in love include verbally claiming to have a child," "Makeup can increase attractiveness to men, but it should be understood accurately, and the core is to appear young." Recently, Gong Li, a teacher at the School of Geography at East China Normal University, opened a course on "Love Psychology," which was exposed to have negative comments suspected of gender discrimination, causing controversy. Some netizens have expressed that the courseware has the suspicion of objectifying women. On March 13th, the New Beijing News learned from the Student Affairs Office of East China Normal University that Gong Li will no longer serve as a teacher for "Love Psychology" and will be taught by teachers from the School of Psychology and Cognitive Sciences. Teaching women how to "handle" men and imparting techniques for women to pursue men in love - on the surface, this teacher may seem to be "heartbroken" to help girls successfully fall in love, but in reality, it is just an output of decadent ideas wrapped in the guise of "science". This is obviously not the "correct way" to open college love classes. Universities are not just training grounds for young people's intelligence, but also incubators to help them better become adults and socialize. The essence of love classes is to guide students to establish a correct view of love and cultivate their ability to harvest and manage happiness. To put it bluntly, the course output that is suspected of gender discrimination and teaches students not to be sincere but only to pretend may not only mislead some students' views on love, but also waste teaching resources and valuable energy of universities. Generally speaking, university courses cannot be opened as soon as you want, especially for public basic and general education courses that are applicable to the entire school, they must go through the school's professional supervision. According to reports, "Love Psychology" led by Gong Li is not the first year it has been online. A student who took the course in 2022 said, "The teacher has repeatedly taught in the classroom views similar to objectifying women and strengthening female stereotypes, emphasizing women's fertility.". It can be seen that a school wide general education course that is clearly off track has existed for several years, and the loopholes exposed in it should be blocked. College love courses are not optional "brush score courses", but rather courses related to shaping the concept of love and guiding young people to learn love and respect. From public feedback, it can be seen that similar courses are more popular in universities due to the needs of students. But courses that convey corrupt gender concepts should never appear again.
