From "Chemical Industry Surrounding the River" to "Green Protection of the River" - New Industrial Landmarks are Rising along the Yangtze River

Chizhou City, Dongzhi County, is located on the south bank of Anhui Province after the Yangtze River enters for thousands of miles. Along the Yangtze River shoreline, a gentle breeze blows against the embankment, and willows cling to it. Not far from the dock, a sign stands conspicuously titled "Creating a Beautiful Yangtze River Economic Belt with Clear Water and Green Shore Industry". The reporter recently visited Dongzhi Economic Development Zone, which features fine chemical industry. There are 46 chemical enterprises here, contributing about 60% of Dongzhi County's GDP. Walking in the development zone, trees such as oleander and camphor tree are arranged on both sides of the road, with a lush greenery. In the core area of the development zone, a sewage treatment plant is operating, and elevated exposed pipes are connected from the enterprise to this point. Wang Yi, a member of the Party Working Committee of Dongzhi Economic Development Zone, told reporters that now, sewage open pipe transportation has achieved full coverage for enterprises, achieving centralized collection and disposal of sewage. After the pre-treatment of enterprise sewage meets the standards for sewage treatment plants, it is transported through elevated open pipes and further treated through nearly 10 processes such as iron carbon micro electrolysis and ozone advanced oxidation at the sewage treatment plant. After reaching the first level A standard for urban domestic sewage, it is discharged into the Yangtze River. However, in the early years, the Dongzhi Economic Development Zone was a different situation. In 2015, some enterprises in the development zone illegally discharged sewage into the Yangtze River, which was exposed by the media; In 2017, due to prominent environmental issues, the provincial environmental protection department implemented an environmental impact assessment and restricted the approval of construction projects. Breaking the problem of chemical pollution and asking for directions towards green development. Since 2017, a total of 12 inefficient and backward enterprises in Dongzhi Economic Development Zone have been shut down and transferred, while implementing the "cage swapping" policy. The newly introduced projects in the park are limited to industrial high-end, green and environmentally friendly chemical projects. Chizhou Tianci High tech Materials Co., Ltd. is a representative of the green transformation of the park. As a leading enterprise in the production of lithium battery electrolytes, its products account for approximately 40% of the global market share. When the reporter arrived at the factory, An Xingchen, the deputy general manager of the company, was checking the operation of the fluoride wastewater treatment station. With 8 years of industry experience, he firmly believes that environmental protection is the lifeline of chemical enterprises. Each fine chemical enterprise has different pollution components of wastewater due to different products, so treatment and reuse have always been a "headache" for the industry. An Xingchen said that they invested 80 million yuan to collaborate with a specialized sewage treatment company in Zhejiang, and spent 2 years customizing and developing the lithium hexafluorophosphate sewage treatment technology required by the enterprise. After pre-treatment in the factory area, some of the sewage enters the park's sewage treatment plant for advanced treatment, while others achieve reclaimed water reuse and reduce water consumption. Data shows that since 2018, there have been 46 and 70 chemical enterprises closed, relocated, and renovated in the Anhui section of the Yangtze River. A group of chemical parks are focusing on new directions of high-end green industries. Taking Dongzhi Economic Development Zone as an example, two enterprises in the park have been rated as national level green factories. The "old tree" of chemical industry is reborn, and a number of new industrial landmarks are quietly emerging along the Yangtze River. Moso bamboo is a renewable resource with a life cycle of about 10 years, and can be harvested within a normal 3 year period. In Chizhou, the coverage area of bamboo is about 580000 acres, and ecological resources have become an industrial advantage. The entire industrial chain around the comprehensive recycling and utilization of bamboo resources is being formed. At Anhui Hongye Group Co., Ltd., 100 intelligent bamboo straw punching machines are being used in the workshop
