The immortal soul

2022-12-07

A dusty history, an immortal soul. The revolutionary struggle in Taiwan Island is an important part of modern Chinese history and the history of the CPC. Because of the long-term isolation between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits, especially the cruelty, particularity and complexity of the underground struggle, the revolutionary history of the heroic struggle of the CPC and the revolutionary masses in Taiwan, the heroic deeds and noble sentiments of the revolutionary ancestors have been little known. The book "Bloody Treasure Island - the Chinese Communist Party's Taiwan Martyrs" (People's Publishing House), organized by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee, reproduces that period of glorious years by showing the life stories and activities of a number of revolutionary heroes sacrificed by the CPC in Taiwan. The book contains the glorious deeds of 31 revolutionary martyrs, including 7 from Taiwan, 23 from the mainland, and 1 overseas Chinese. Among these heroes, General Wu Shi was the oldest, 56 at the time of his death; The youngest was martyr Li Cang from Taiwan, who was 26 years old at the time of his death. When he was in prison, his daughter was born prematurely and was less than one year old; There are 8 women among the heroes. These heroes have a common feature: they are always full of deep love for their motherland and boundless loyalty to the people, until the last moment of their lives. The editors checked a large number of precious historical archives, visited several descendants of heroes, and excavated and reproduced many true, vivid and soul stirring story details. Many of the materials in the book are from Taiwan, and many of the contents are disclosed for the first time. Experts and scholars evaluated that this book is not only of great historical value, research value and educational value, but also a vivid, thick and spiritual heroic epic. History is the best textbook. Looking back on this history full of blood and tears, the soul has been hit and shocked again and again. Because of the particularity and complexity of the hidden front, the heroes are on an isolated island and have been subjected to a particularly cruel test of will under the circumstances of white terror and heavy siege for a long time. They even know that they are likely to die, but they always stick to their faith, remember their mission, and fight bravely, demonstrating the incomparable firmness of their ideals and beliefs with practical actions. When the mainland was just liberated, many heroes had no time to share the joy of victory with their relatives, breathe the air of peace, and embark on a new journey. Martyr Zhu Feng, who had worked for several years, was far away from his wife and children. At the time of the victory of the revolution, she was about to reunite with her family and received an order from the organization to go south. In her letter to her lover and daughter, she wrote: "At this time, personal matters should not be taken into consideration... more important things should be done." Unexpectedly, I went to Baodao for a farewell. I didn't return to my hometown until 2010 and was buried in the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery. I have seen two photos of martyr Zhu Feng. One was left to her husband before she left. In the photo, Zhu Feng is wearing short sleeves and sitting by the tea table with a checkered tablecloth, with a peaceful and warm look in his eyes. The back of the photo reads: "She has deeply experienced 'true love' and 'great feelings', and will always be happy and healthy from now on!" It can be seen that Zhu Feng's enthusiasm for new tasks and vision for the future; The other is a photo of her when she died in Taibei Machangcho. Zhu Feng was tied up by Kuomintang soldiers, but she took it easy, looked calm, respected death with dignity
