In the first quarter of 2022, the total consumption of Macao inbound tourists increased by 6.7% year-on-year

On the 19th, the reporter learned from the statistics and Census Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region government that with the number of inbound tourists increasing compared with the same period last year, the total consumption of Macao tourists in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 6.7% year-on-year to 6.59 billion yuan (Macao dollars, the same below). Among them, the consumption of non overnight passengers (1.26 billion yuan) increased by 1.1 times, while the consumption of overnight passengers (5.33 billion yuan) decreased by 4.7%. According to statistics, the per capita consumption of Macao tourists in the first quarter of 2022 was 3514 yuan, down 1.2% year-on-year, mainly due to the increase of non overnight tourists with relatively low consumption. Data show that in the first quarter, more than 70% of passengers' consumption was spent on shopping (70.1%), followed by catering (13.9%) and accommodation (12.7%). Per capita shopping consumption increased by 8.1% year-on-year to 2464 yuan, mainly for cosmetics and perfume (700 yuan), handbags and footwear (459 yuan) and hand letter food (374 yuan). According to the statistics of the main purposes of tourists coming to Australia, the per capita consumption of tourists coming to Australia for vacation (7792 yuan) increased by 14.7% year-on-year, while the per capita consumption for shopping (2159 yuan) and visiting relatives (1997 yuan) decreased by 48.6% and 35.7% respectively.
