Renovation of Ho Chi Minh's old residence in Kunming

The renovation and exhibition are expected to be completed within this year. In the 1930s and 1940s, Ho Chi Minh went to Kunming many times to carry out revolutionary activities, which was supported by the people of Yunnan. It is reported that the residence on Huashan south road is one of Ho Chi Minh's permanent residences in Kunming, later known as "Ho Chi Minh's old residence", covering an area of 121.5 square meters and a construction area of 263 square meters. It was announced as a provincial cultural relics protection unit in Yunnan Province in 2019. Hao Kun, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the people's Government of Yunnan Province, said that Ho Chi Minh's old residence on Huashan South Road has deeply recorded the ups and downs and magnificent revolutionary years, and has become an important window and bridge for the friendship between China and Vietnam from generation to generation. "Starting the repair of the old residence fully reflects our remembrance of Ho Chi Minh, our cherishing of the friendship between China and Vietnam and our expectation of working together to create a better future". "President Ho Chi Minh's old residence in China has become a symbol of friendship between Vietnam and China. Its repair work has not only helped Vietnamese overseas Chinese living in Yunnan fully understand president Ho Chi Minh's great contribution to the cause of the Vietnamese revolution, but also strengthened the understanding of the younger generation of the two countries on the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China." Ruan Zhongxiao, Vietnamese Consul General in Kunming, said. Ma Yingchun, a first-class inspector of Yunnan Provincial Department of culture and tourism, introduced that the Provincial Department of culture and tourism, together with relevant departments of Kunming and Wuhua District, formulated a work plan and arranged special funds to ensure the completion of the projects of renovation and exhibition of old houses within 2022.
