In this hopeful season, at the invitation of President Aleksandar Vuč i ć, I am about to conduct a state visit to the Republic of Serbia. The beautiful scene of visiting Serbia 8 years ago is still vividly remembered, and the close cooperation between the two sides has achieved fruitful results in the past 8 years. I look forward to once again exchanging friendship and discussing cooperation with Serbian leaders and friends, such as President Vuchi ć, to inject new vitality into the steadfast friendship between China and Serbia. China and Serbia are far apart, but the people of the two countries have always been connected by heart and hand. During the scorching years of the anti fascist war and the period of national construction in the last century, the people of the two countries cultivated a profound friendship that transcended time and space. In the current world's unprecedented great changes, both sides have become more steadfast in their support for each other, mutually beneficial cooperation has become closer, and exchanges and mutual learning have become more profound. No matter how the international situation changes, China and Serbia are always true friends and good partners. Our steadfast friendship has stood firm and established a model of interaction between the country and the people. We insist on mutual respect and trust. I have established a good working relationship with President Vuchi through meetings, phone calls, letters, and other means. The two countries maintain close exchanges at all levels and in various fields. Both sides fully understand and respect the development path chosen by their respective peoples, adhere to the principles of fairness and justice, firmly support each other's core interests and major concerns, and maintain close and smooth coordination and cooperation in bilateral and multilateral fields. The comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries is constantly deepening and solidifying. We adhere to mutual benefit and reciprocity. Serbia is China's first free trade partner in Central and Eastern Europe. Last year, China was Serbia's largest source of investment and second largest trading partner. The cooperation in economy, trade, industrial chain, and infrastructure construction between the two countries is still thriving, helping to promote their respective modernization processes. The Esmederevo Steel Plant, which I visited in 2016, is one of the three major export enterprises in Serbia. Serbian agricultural products such as honey, red wine, beef and mutton are highly favored by Chinese consumers. We insist on helping each other. After the outbreak of the COVID-19, I made two phone calls with President Wu Qiqi to reach important consensus on anti epidemic cooperation. China provides assistance to Serbia and prioritizes the provision of multiple batches of medical protection materials, and also sends expert teams to Serbia. Serbia fully supports China's "Spring Seedling Action" to assist overseas Chinese during the epidemic, and Serbian civil society organizations spontaneously donate masks and other materials to the Chinese people. This kind of brotherhood that delivers charcoal in the snow is extremely precious. We adhere to mutual learning and mutual learning. Both China and Serbia are committed to pursuing people's happiness and national prosperity. The two countries actively engage in exchanges of governance experience and strengthen political party exchanges.
