Selling game accounts and maliciously retrieving them, suspected of theft

"If I had known it would cause such serious consequences, I would never have secretly retrieved a game account that had already been sold." Wang sold his game account and maliciously retrieved it, but was arrested by the public security organs on suspicion of theft. Wang is a loyal enthusiast of a certain online game. When registering for the game, he bound his QQ account and gradually recharged 50000 to 60000 yuan in the game account to purchase game skins and props. On September 3, 2023, due to unpaid wages and unfulfilled living expenses, Wang sold the full right to use the QQ account linked to the game to a certain online company in a desperate situation. The network company is mainly engaged in the business of buying and selling various game accounts, and has created a platform dedicated to online trading game accounts. When customers sell their game accounts, they need to provide their real name, ID card number and address on the platform, otherwise they cannot trade. And these traded game accounts often have higher game ranks, rare skins, and bonus items, making them popular in the online market. The company has signed a game account usage rights transfer contract with Wang, which stipulates that the company will purchase the full usage rights of Wang's QQ account for 4500 yuan, including the game account, game characters, email account, etc. logged in with the QQ account. The contract clearly stipulates that after delivering the right to use the QQ account, Wang shall not use any means to recover it, including appealing for recovery. 4500 yuan was soon squandered by Wang upon receipt. Less than a month later, Wang's "gaming addiction" erupted. Thinking that there were many characters and skins in the previously sold game account, which was much more playable than registering a new game account, Wang felt lucky and wanted to retrieve the already sold account through appeal to continue playing the game. The QQ account tied to the game is authenticated by the real name of the ID card. Wang can retrieve the account through ID number and face verification, but he is worried that the behavior of retrieving the account will be found by the network company, so he uses his friend Xu's mobile phone number to receive the verification code, creating a false image of being stolen. Quickly, Wang regained his game account through an appeal and continued to roam in the gaming world. A few days later, the internet company discovered that the account could not be logged in properly, so they contacted Wang on WeChat to inquire about the situation. Wang admitted that he had retrieved the account and pretended to agree to return it, but he never replied to the other party afterwards. The purchased game account was retrieved, and the seller Wang lost contact. On October 31, 2023, the network company went to the Liyang Public Security Bureau to report to the police. On that day, the police arrested Wang at his home, and Wang confessed to the fact that he had illegally retrieved his account and claimed it as his own. The public security agency filed an investigation on October 31, 2023, alleging that Wang was suspected of theft. On March 8th this year, the case was transferred to the procuratorial organs for review and prosecution. On April 7th, due to Wang's good attitude of pleading guilty and reaching a compensation understanding with the victim, the Liyang City Procuratorate made a relative decision not to prosecute him.
