Macau hosts a series of events to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement

This year marks the 105th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement. On May Fourth Youth Day, the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government held multiple commemorative activities aimed at deepening the understanding of the historical significance and historical value of the May Fourth Movement among Macau youth, and helping them better practice and inherit the spirit of May Fourth. On May 4th, the flag raising team of the Macau academic community participated in the flag raising ceremony for the May Fourth Youth Day of the Macau academic community. The flag raising ceremony for Macau's May Fourth Youth Day was held at the Macau Polytechnic University Sports Center on the morning of the 4th, with about 2000 people from all walks of life in attendance. Amidst the national anthem played by the Macau Youth Orchestra, the flag bearer of the Macau academic flag raising team raised a five-star red flag. Led by choirs from five schools, including Jingping Middle School, Jiaoye Middle School, Anglican (Macau) Cai Gao Middle School, Sino Portuguese Vocational and Technical School, and Bosco Yuehua Primary School, all members of the audience sang the national anthem, with a grand voice filled with patriotism. On May 4th, guests presided over the launch ceremony of the May Fourth Youth Forum to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China and the 25th anniversary of Macau's return to the motherland. On that day, the Education and Youth Bureau and the preparatory committee for the commemoration of the May Fourth Youth Day series of activities held the "Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of Macao's Return to the Motherland May Fourth Youth Forum" at the conference center of the Macao Science Museum, with the theme of "From the Past to the Future, Youth Self Strengthening Achieves the Glory of Our Country". The forum invited Yang Hong, the chief designer of China's manned space engineering space station system, and Hui Ruoqi, a member of the Standing Committee of the All China Youth Federation, to give speeches and share. Academician Yang Hong encourages young people in Macau to have a clear mindset, establish a correct outlook on life and values, and serve the motherland. Hui Ruoqi encourages young people to take on social responsibility and tell the story of China well with the spirit of the women's volleyball team. At the same time, an award ceremony for the essay competition "May Fourth Spirit Accompanying My Growth" was held, which attracted about 1500 Macau high school students to actively participate. It is reported that the series of activities commemorating the 105th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement in Macau also includes online Q&A games, career exploration activities, and exchange activities. Higher education institutions and non higher education institutions in Macau will hold multiple lectures and sharing sessions from May to June. (Lai Xin She)
