Sun Yat sen University recently held its first spring tea for its centenary celebration in Hong Kong, and presented school level honors such as "Honorary Director of Sun Yat sen University", "Yi Xian Friendship Award", "Yi Xian Outstanding Education Contribution Award", and "Yi Xian Education Contribution Award" at the tea ceremony, awarding alumni, social elites, and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to the school's educational development. Sun Yat sen University is awarded a "school level honor" in Hong Kong. At the ceremony, two honorary school directors, seven individuals and institutions were awarded the "Yixian Friendship Award", more than 20 individuals and institutions were awarded the "Yixian Outstanding Education Contribution Award", and more than 40 individuals and institutions were awarded the "Yixian Education Contribution Award". Professor Chen Chunsheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat sen University and Chairman of the Sun Yat sen University Education Development Foundation, stated that at different stages of the university's development, many knowledgeable individuals and wise individuals have donated funds and contributed to the expansion of buildings, awarding education and scholarship, helping the needy, and supporting the school in improving its educational conditions and promoting academic development. Together with the school, they have taken on the responsibility of serving society and benefiting the people. Therefore, on the occasion of its centenary, Sun Yat sen University has established a school level donation honor to express gratitude to all sectors for their support in the development of Sun Yat sen University and encourage charitable actions in society. In his speech, Chen Chunsheng expressed his gratitude to three patriotic figures, including Huo Yingdong, Wu Zhande, and Zeng Xianzi, for their care and love for the education cause of CUHK. They have generously supported Sun Yat sen University's talent cultivation and cultural and sports projects on multiple occasions. This selfless and compassionate spirit, as well as his foresight for the development of the university, is a reflection of Mr. Sun Yat sen's educational spirit, which is constantly passed down from generation to generation. It is reported that this year, Sun Yat sen University has also established a higher research institute in Hong Kong, and the construction work is being accelerated. Lin Haoran, an academician of the CAE Member and a professor of the School of Life Sciences of Sun Yat sen University, introduced the development ideas of the Biomedical Research and Development Center of Sun Yat sen University's Hong Kong Institute of Advanced Research in Chunming. "We will prepare to build a basic science center for evolutionary and synthetic biology and a research and development center for biomedicine. The two centers will closely focus on 'synthetic biology' to carry out cross-border collaborative research and innovation."
