The New Voice of the Bay Area Gathers at Yongqing Square, Singing the Power of Youth

On the afternoon of April 21st, the "New Voice Singing in the Bay Area - May Fourth Spirit Passing on the Fire, Youth Treading on Songs in Liwan" concert was held at the Jinsheng Square in Yongqingfang, a cultural and tourism check-in area that integrates historical and cultural heritage with urban life in Guangzhou. The 9 award-winning singers Hong Wanting, Zhan Wei, An Zheyi, Li Zhiqiang, Mai Zhenshuo, Li Zhizhou, Lin Yongqi, Lin Zhiwei, and Li Anqi from the 2023 Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Pop Singer Competition gathered to play the May Fourth Youth Horn and empower the implementation of the "Million and Ten Thousand Project" in Liwan District with their singing, reflecting the new vitality of the old city. It is understood that the "New Voice in the Bay Area" 2023 Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Pop Singer Competition is planned by the Guangdong Musicians Association and jointly established by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao as the first official competition for young pop singers. It was launched in August 2023 and received high attention from all online platforms, with a cumulative traffic exceeding 500 million. This youth song festival will feature an open stage that is closer to the audience, featuring songs from classic Cantonese, original new works, and inspirational progress to interact with the audience. Liwan District is the location of the first Guangdong Musician New Era Civilization Practice Station in Guangdong Province. Young singers from the Greater Bay Area have come to this historic and cultural neighborhood to inherit the spirit of the May Fourth Movement through practical actions, reflecting the mission and responsibility of literary and artistic people in the new era. The concert kicked off warmly with a flash of 9 award-winning singers singing "Planting Songs Here". This is an excellent award-winning piece from the original repertoire library of "Our New Era", full of the temperament of the new era. Lin Yongqi from Hong Kong, China sings "Kapok Ballad", which has a familiar nursery rhyme melody for every Cantonese; Chinese Hong Kong singer Lin Yiwei presented an inspirational song "Flying in the Wind", encouraging young people to have the courage to walk in the wind; Portuguese Chinese singer Angel Le brings a song called "Lighthouse"; In addition, Swiss singer An Zheyi's performance of "Youth" and five female singers singing "Blooming Flowers Along the Way" have both been popular online songs in the past two years, resonating with the live audience. Hong Wanting, a local young singer from Guangzhou, brings a Yi ethnic song "Take Me to the Mountain Top" and uses a beautiful voice to lead everyone to the mountains for a look; The song "Up Spring Mountain", sung by four male singers, Zhan Wei, An Zheyi, Li Zhiqiang, and Mai Zhenshuo, is a poetic journey where one encounters the romantic flower sea of Guizhou; Guangzhou singer Li Zhiqiang sang his heartfelt song "The Blossoming Tree", expressing the sentiments of border soldiers in defending their motherland; Li Zhizhou, the champion of "New Voice in the Bay Area", sang the winning song "It's Now"; Guangzhou singer Mai Zhenshuo sang "Red Sun", and Shenzhen singer Zhan Wei brought "Ocean and Sky". The two Cantonese hot songs sparked a chorus throughout the audience. The theme song series "Millions of Smiling Faces" with the theme of "Million Project" is finally sung, pushing the atmosphere of the scene to a climax.
