The 9th Hong Kong Games (Hong Kong Games) opened at the Hong Kong Coliseum on the 21st, with over 4600 athletes from 18 districts across Hong Kong participating in the competition. The Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Chen Guoji, attended the opening ceremony and announced the opening of the sports meet. Olympic champions Ding Ning and Wang Yilu, along with Hong Kong athletes Xu De'en and Su Huiyin, entered the stadium holding torches and participated in the ignition ceremony symbolizing the opening of the games. This year's Hong Kong Games features eight competition events, including athletics, badminton, three player basketball, five player football, swimming, table tennis, tennis, and volleyball; The disability competition has four events, namely wheelchair three person basketball, hard ground rolling, swimming for intellectually disabled individuals, and table tennis.
