Emerging and Future Industry Development Trends in Hami, Xinjiang

2024-04-15

Recently, Hami City, Xinjiang held a major industry investment and signing conference for new quality productivity, focusing on the hydrogen and computing power industries. A total of 13 projects were signed, with a signing amount of 22.7 billion yuan. In recent years, Hami City has fully leveraged its resource endowment, geographical advantages, and industrial foundation, planted a solid foundation for industrial development, and made every effort to build a hydrogen transportation equipment manufacturing base in Xinjiang and a Hami (Yiwu) computing economy innovation demonstration zone. The 2024 government work report proposes to actively cultivate emerging and future industries. Wulamujiang Reyimu, Deputy Secretary of the Hami Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, stated that with the signing and landing of 13 projects, Hami will accelerate the formation of emerging industries and future industrial clusters mainly focused on hydrogen energy and computing power, further leverage the construction of modern industrial systems, and actively promote the high-end, intelligent, and green development of industries. As one of the hydrogen industry demonstration zones in Xinjiang, Hami City has issued multiple hydrogen industry standards and built two integrated hydrogen production and refueling stations to build a medium to long distance hydrogen high-speed corridor. This year, the first batch of 35 hydrogen powered heavy-duty trucks have been put into operation, and the procurement of hydrogen powered buses in Yiwu County has also been completed, entering the order manufacturing stage, and the preliminary construction of hydrogen powered transportation application scenarios. "The rich hydrogen production channels have made our hydrogen consumption cost the lowest in the country. With the large-scale application and technological innovation of hydrogen energy in the later stage, the cost will further decrease." Zhu Yi, a fourth level researcher at the Hami City Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, said that relying on the rich transportation needs of coal, minerals, and chemical products, Hami City has already had a hydrogen energy heavy-duty truck application scenario and market demand of tens of thousands of units. The reporter learned that Hami has built a wind power base of tens of millions of kilowatts and a thermal and photovoltaic base of millions of kilowatts, laying the energy foundation for large-scale production of green hydrogen. At the same time, as the largest modern coal chemical base in Xinjiang, Hami can purify over 180000 tons of surplus hydrogen gas annually. In addition, with the application of carbon capture technology, the hydrogen production capacity of Hami Blue will be further released. "With energy security and application scenarios, Hami is our preferred place to promote hydrogen heavy-duty trucks." Wang Zhao, a member of the Party Committee of Shaanxi Automobile Holding Group and Chairman and General Manager of Proton Automobile, said that previously delivered hydrogen heavy-duty trucks were mostly for short distance transportation, while Hami's transportation scenarios involve thousands of kilometers of medium to long distance transportation, which requires higher technical performance for hydrogen battery fuel, engines, and other technologies. The next step is to create hydrogen heavy-duty trucks that are suitable for the transportation environment and climate in Hami. Zhu Yi introduced that Hami City is currently constructing a medium to long distance hydrogen high-speed corridor. By the end of this year, it will achieve the operation of 500 hydrogen heavy-duty trucks, and by 2025, it will reach over 2000 vehicles, becoming an important new energy transportation force on the "Xinjiang Coal Export" channel. In addition, we will also promote the landing of equipment manufacturing industries such as hydrogen fuel cell systems, hydrogen engines, and hydrogen storage tanks. "The end of computing power is electricity, and without sufficient power supply, the development of computing economy cannot be discussed," Liang Yu, Vice President of Liantai Cluster (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., told Science and Technology Daily reporters that Hami's abundant and reliable supply of new energy such as wind and photovoltaic power is an important foundation for the development of computing economy. In 2023, Hami City will fully leverage its advantages in electricity resources and collaborate with relevant domestic scientific research institutions to innovate and establish energy computing power integration(
