Lenovo CTO: The next step in the development of big models is intelligent agents

AIGC (Generative Artificial Intelligence) has sparked a wave of AI, but it also has its limitations, such as being "serious and nonsensical" and synthesizing videos that do not conform to causal relationships. How to solve these problems? Rui Yong, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Lenovo Group, believes that the next step in the development of big models is intelligent agents. At the Lenovo Group 2024/25 Global Pledge Conference held on April 1st, Lenovo Group executives gave an outlook on the future of the big model. Rui Yong said that the abilities and functions of intelligent agents include active perception, intention comprehension, decomposition of complex tasks, and long-term and short-term memory mechanisms. Intelligent agents are based on and surpass large models. "If web pages and applications are the main carriers of the Internet and mobile Internet era respectively, agents will be the core carriers of our intelligent era." Rui Yong said that agents are also Lenovo's key direction in the next step. Lenovo Group Chairman and CEO Yang Yuanqing stated that one of the best ways to implement artificial intelligence is to embed models into personal devices such as computers and smartphones. Lenovo showcased AI PCs last year, with the AI Twin (AI TWIN), a personal big model with a local knowledge base, receiving industry attention. "The 'Personal Artificial Intelligence Twins' and' Enterprise Artificial Intelligence Twins' will coexist and complement public artificial intelligence models, and hybrid artificial intelligence will be the future trend." Yang Yuanqing said that Lenovo Group will continue to use the BLP (Build, Level, Partner) framework to create self-developed technologies and innovative products. In addition to AI PCs, artificial intelligence servers, storage, and network devices will be built based on heterogeneous computing, and a hybrid infrastructure will be built around a new IT architecture of "end edge cloud network intelligence". Lenovo Group Senior Vice President and Lenovo Venture Capital Group President He Zhiqiang stated that with the joint efforts of the government and enterprises, RISC-V has the opportunity to become the world's third computing platform, and Lenovo Venture Capital has invested in four related enterprises. The huge demand for computing power in AI will inevitably bring new technological breakthroughs. (Lai Xin She)
