On April 1st, the CCID Consulting Intelligent Equipment Industry Research Center released the "China Low Altitude Economic Development Research Report (2024)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") in Beijing. The report shows that in 2023, the scale of China's low altitude economy reached 505.95 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 33.8%. With the increasing number of low altitude flight activities and the gradual manifestation of the driving effect of low altitude infrastructure investment, it is optimistic that the low altitude economy is expected to exceed one trillion yuan by 2026. Yang Ling, the head of the Intelligent Equipment Industry Research Center of CCID Consulting, stated that the low altitude economy mainly includes four aspects: low altitude infrastructure, low altitude aircraft manufacturing, low altitude operation services, and low altitude flight support. In 2023, low altitude economic scale contributed the most to the manufacturing of low altitude aircraft and low altitude operation services, accounting for nearly 55%. The indirect economic activities related to supply chain, production services, consumption, transportation, etc. contributed nearly 40%. In addition, with the increasing number of low altitude flight activities, the driving effect of low altitude infrastructure investment is gradually becoming apparent. Focusing on the forefront of low altitude economy, the report shows that in the field of electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (eVTOL), the scale of China's eVTOL industry reached 980 million yuan in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 77.3%, and is expected to reach 9.5 billion yuan by 2026. In addition, the report believes that civil drones have become the main model for China's low altitude economic development. In 2023, the scale of China's civil drone industry reached 117.43 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 32%; The application depth and breadth of industrial grade drones in emergency support, energy inspection, agriculture, forestry, and plant protection scenarios continue to increase, with an industrial scale of 76.68 billion yuan. It is worth mentioning that the current low altitude economic policies are frequently favorable. This year's government work report proposes to actively build new growth engines such as biological manufacturing, commercial aerospace, and low altitude economy. Guangdong, Anhui, Zhejiang, Shandong, Shaanxi, Chongqing and other provinces and cities have clearly accelerated the development of low altitude economy, and many places have successively introduced plans or support policies related to low altitude economy. "The essence of developing low altitude economy is to accelerate the construction of low altitude infrastructure, transform low altitude airspace resources into production factors similar to" land "resources, and provide factor protection for economic activities."; The second is to coordinate the five elements of airspace, market, technology, policy, and security, and continuously explore and promote application scenarios; The third is to tap into real demand, form economies of scale, streamline business models, and shape the low altitude economy into a sustainable engine of economic growth.
