The reporter learned from the Fujian Provincial Innovation Laboratory Jiageng Innovation Laboratory that China's independently developed high-precision temperature and salinity depth sensing instrument (CTD) for deep-sea applications has completed deep-sea comparative testing, with a maximum deployment depth of 7180.4 meters. The comparison results of multiple sea trial data show that its performance is comparable to the international advanced level. It is reported that the instrument was independently developed by a team led by Xue Chenyang, a researcher at Jiageng Innovation Laboratory, a professor at North Central University, and a specially appointed professor at Xiamen University, over a period of two years. During the "Exploration No.1" scientific expedition of the Institute of Deep Sea Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the high-precision temperature salt depth sensing instrument successfully completed nine dives in the 10000 meter manned submersible "Endeavor", covering the sea area near the Java Trench in India at a depth of more than 3000-7000 meters. The temperature salinity depth sensing instrument is used to measure the three basic variables of seawater temperature, salinity, and depth. Based on this, it can calculate the sound velocity and density of seawater, and is a key basic instrument for ocean surveys. According to incomplete statistics, as of 2019, foreign brands accounted for over 90% of various high-precision temperature and salinity depth sensing instruments and integrated instruments used in China. The research and development of this instrument has been supported by the Jiageng Innovation Laboratory project, jointly developed by teams from Xiamen University and North China University. Thanks to the significant progress of micro and nano processing technology in China, the team has adopted the latest process methods and production conditions in recent years to ensure that all aspects of sensitive device design, preparation process, and packaging testing technology are self-developed, achieving 100% localization of core components.
