In order to actively respond to this major initiative, expand youth exchanges between China and the United States, and deepen friendship between the two peoples, numerous American exchange delegations have been invited to visit China, including a delegation of young students from Columbia University, a delegation of teachers and students from Lincoln High School and Strathcon High School in Washington, USA, and a friendly delegation from Utah, USA. As part of the "Five Year 50000 American Youth Exchange and Learning Program in China", the China US Youth Exchange Program has recently welcomed a new group of young guests from afar. 10 high school students from Lincoln High School in Washington State and 14 high school students from Strathcon High School began their 10 day trip to China. On March 16th local time, these students from Lincoln High School and Stratcom High School in Washington State, accompanied by their teachers and filled with longing, specially brought various mascots in the shape of Chinese national treasures - the "giant panda" - and flew to China to visit Beijing, Hubei, and Guangdong. On the morning of March 18th, American youth arrived in China with smiles on their faces. The delegation's first stop was at Tsinghua University Affiliated High School, where they walked into the gymnasium, specimen hall, and science and technology center to experience the daily learning and life of students at the school up close. They also participated in fan painting activities and experienced traditional Chinese culture. Fang Yan, the principal of Tsinghua Affiliated Middle School, quoted Confucius' famous saying, "It's a pleasure to have friends coming from afar." She welcomed the delegation's visit. She said that taking this event as an opportunity, American teachers and students will have a deeper understanding of the profound cultural heritage of Tsinghua Affiliated High School. I hope that teachers and students from both countries will work hard to grow, develop their skills, learn from each other, and become friendly ambassadors in the future, so that the friendship between the people of China and the United States can be passed down from generation to generation.
