2024-03-21

The Indonesian Election Commission announced the final vote count for the presidential election on the 20th. Current Defense Minister Prabowo and his running mate, the eldest son of current President Joko and the mayor of Solo, Gibran, won with 58.58% of the vote and was elected as the next president and vice president. On March 20th, in Jakarta, Indonesia, Prabowo (center) gave a speech at a rally attended by media reporters and supporters. In the other two campaign groups, former Governor of Jakarta, Anis, and Chairman of the National Awakening Party, Mu Haiming, received 24.94% of the vote, while former Governor of Central Java, Ganjar, and former Minister of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs of Indonesia, Mohammed, received 16.46% of the vote. Analysts believe that Prabowo's victory reflects the fervent expectations of a large number of voters for continuing the Joko policy, developing the economy, promoting employment, and improving people's well-being. The 2024 Indonesian general election, including the presidential election, will be held on February 14th. The inauguration ceremony of President Prabowo will be held on October 20th in the new capital of Indonesia, Nushantara. (Lai Xin She)
