The Jidong Folk Song Lecture was held at the National Grand Theatre: "Talking about Children's Rhyme and Appreciating Children's Tune", to be the "Children of Folk Songs"

Folk songs carry the voice of the people, and each folk song in eastern Hebei is a representation of the emotions of the people. At the same time, it also reflects the production and life of the eastern region and condenses the unique local customs and habits. On March 10th, the Jidong Folk Song Lecture and Singing Festival, titled "Talking about Children's Rhyme and Appreciating Children's Tune," was held at the Art Information Center of the National Grand Theatre. The lecture concert is hosted by the National Grand Theatre and the Ethnic and Folk Art Development Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It is jointly organized by the Tangshan Branch of the Hebei Social Music Research Association, the Tangshan Ancient Rhyme New Voice Art Troupe, Zhongyuan Hongyuan (Beijing) Cultural Communication Co., Ltd., and the China Art Anthropology Folk Art and Film and Television Communication Special Committee. This concert is the first performance of intangible cultural heritage folk song projects from various regions showcased at the National Grand Theatre in 2024. The keynote speaker for this concert is Professor Zhang Tiantong from the Department of Vocal Opera at the China Conservatory of Music. Zhang Tiantong stated that as a professional music college teacher, on the one hand, he carries out classroom teaching inheritance of intangible cultural heritage folk song projects at the China Conservatory of Music; On the other hand, utilizing the platform of the National Grand Theatre, carry out social popularization and dissemination of intangible cultural heritage folk song projects. Liu Rongde, a contemporary singer of Jidong folk songs and a representative inheritor of Hebei Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Project's Jidong folk songs, was specially invited to give a speech at this concert. The lecture performance showcased different genres of folk songs in the eastern region of Hebei, including labor songs, mountain songs, minor tunes, hawking tunes, and yangko tunes. Additionally, Liu Rongde created four works based on the unique melodies and tones of Jidong folk songs, allowing the audience on site to experience the unique "children's tune" and "children's rhyme" of traditional Jidong folk songs firsthand, and deeply appreciate the contemporary development of Jidong folk songs. In order to provide the audience with a general understanding of Jidong folk songs, the Jidong Folk Song Lecture Ceremony kicked off with a brief introduction by the speaker Zhang Tiantong on the distribution area, genre types, language characteristics, and relationship with local customs of Jidong folk songs. The opening song vividly portrays the traditional Jidong Jiaomai tune by the father and daughter of Liu Rongde and Liu Ying. Mr. Liu's spirit is vigorous and his voice is like a bell, bringing everyone a scene of visiting a temple fair. Next are several traditional Jidong folk songs, including "Thoreau in the Sky", "Picking Cotton", "Throwing a Ring", and "Watching a Small Play". Among them, the more well-known one is Xu Shengmao's performance of "Picking Cotton". "Picking up Cotton" has a strong flavor and rich colors, and has been sung by folk singer Cao Yujian throughout the country. Especially with the use of contrasting words, they stand out - "slowly swimming" and "playing with them". Xu Shengmao inherited the folk singing style of his predecessors, singing accurately and accurately with the purr, throat, nose, and up and down glides. The singing conveys emotions and is captivating, immersing the audience unconsciously. In addition, Liu Xiuwen, the singer of "Lost Ring", is a young singer from Hebei Province. She not only inherited the traditional singing style, but also organically integrated it with professional singing techniques, possessing a unique charm. As the song falls, the suona plays. Yao Xina, the inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage representative project Tangshan Flower Blowing, and his companions bring both beautiful and pleasant flower blowing to everyone.
