1000 Days of Safe Operation of Nigeria's Lai Rai Railway Constructed by Chinese Enterprises

On March 2nd, passengers took a photo with a passenger train at the Moboraj Johnson railway station on the Lai Railway in Lagos, Nigeria. In June 2021, under the guidance of the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, the railway connecting Lagos and Ibadan (the Layi Railway) contracted by China Civil Engineering Corporation (CCECC) will be officially opened to traffic. The trunk line is about 157 kilometers long, and the branch line is about 7 kilometers long. The modern railway standard is adopted, and the design speed is 150 kilometers per hour. As of March 5, 2024, the Lai Yi Railway has been operating safely for 1000 days, with a passenger flow of over 2 million people and a maximum monthly passenger volume of over 150000. The average occupancy rate of passenger trains exceeds 80%. The Lai Yi Railway not only facilitates public transportation, but also helps to improve the efficiency of port and inland cargo transportation, accelerate the upgrading of Nigeria's industrial and economic activities.
