The Hong Kong Palace Museum announced its exhibition lineup for 2024 on the 29th. The four major special exhibitions will focus on the Qing Dynasty Royal Garden, the Old Summer Palace, the origin of Chinese civilization, and the cultural exchange between China and France in the 17th century. It is reported that the first large-scale special exhibition presented by the Hong Kong Palace Museum in 2024 is the "Hong Kong Jockey Club Presentation Series: The Old Summer Palace - Qing Dynasty Royal Garden Culture", which will showcase over 190 important cultural relics related to the Old Summer Palace, including calligraphy and painting, artifacts, and hot stamping (architectural models). The exhibition is jointly organized by the Palace Museum, the Hong Kong Palace Museum, and the Yuanmingyuan Management Office in Haidian District, Beijing. It will be open to the public from March 20th to August 12th. The Hong Kong Palace Museum of Culture will also hold a large-scale special exhibition in September with the theme of the origin of Chinese civilization, showcasing important discoveries in Chinese archaeology in recent years. In 2024, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, the Hong Kong Palace Museum of Culture will jointly host two large-scale special exhibitions with two cultural and artistic institutions in France, including a large-scale French clothing special exhibition to be held in June and a special exhibition to be held in December with the theme of cultural exchange between China and France in the 17th and 18th centuries. Wu Zhihua, curator of the Hong Kong Palace Museum of Culture, said that in 2024, the Hong Kong Palace Museum of Culture would continue to cooperate with the world's top art and cultural institutions, plan world-class exhibitions, and implement the concept of building the museum - promoting excellent traditional Chinese culture and advocating exchanges and mutual learning between different civilizations. The museum will seize the unique features and advantages of Hong Kong's cultural heritage, and continue to provide a variety of learning and public participation activities to promote cultural exchange between China and foreign countries. It is reported that since its opening in July 2022, the Hong Kong Palace Museum has presented a total of 16 themed and special exhibitions, showcasing collections from the Palace Museum, the Hong Kong Palace Museum, and other important cultural institutions around the world. To date, it has received over 2.1 million visitors. (Lai Xin She)
