Deepening Education Cooperation between China and Uzbekistan

Recently, the Ministry of Education of China and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan jointly held the China Uzbekistan Hundred Universities Cooperation Forum, and both sides signed the Beijing Declaration on China Uzbekistan University Cooperation. The two countries will further strengthen the exchange mechanism of higher education institutions, build a platform for mutual learning and learning, and promote the development of digital education cooperation. The First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, Karimov, stated that exchanges between Uzbekistan and China in the field of higher education are constantly deepening, and the prospects for education cooperation between the two countries are broad. Since the signing of the Higher Education Diploma and Degree Mutual Recognition Agreement between the two countries in 1993, China and Uzbekistan have continuously promoted the sharing of educational resources and deepened cultural exchange and cooperation. China provides scholarships and quotas for international students to Uzbekistan every year. Since the 2008-2009 academic year, China has established the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization Scholarship" to provide government scholarships to SCO member countries, including Uzbekistan. The number of Uzbek students studying in China is constantly increasing, promoting cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. In recent years, there has been a "Chinese fever" in Uzbekistan. Data shows that there are currently about 2000 students studying Chinese in Uzbekistan, and the number of higher education institutions using Chinese as their first or second foreign language is also increasing. Tashkent National Oriental University is the first university in Central Asia that specializes in cultivating Chinese language talents. The learning clubs offered on campus, such as "Chinese Language and Culture Enthusiasts," "Young Economists," and "Young Translators," are highly welcomed by students. The Tashkent Confucius Institute, co founded by Lanzhou University and Tashkent National Oriental University, has provided Chinese language learning opportunities for thousands of Uzbek students since its establishment in 2005. By participating in interest activities such as "I Sing Chinese", "Essay Competition", and "The Beauty of Chinese Prose", students can further learn and understand traditional Chinese customs and culture. During the construction and development of the International Tourism and Cultural Heritage University on the Silk Road in Uzbekistan, the Chinese side actively assisted in the construction of the university and talent cultivation, helping Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan cultivate high-level professionals in tourism, culture, media, and other fields. The Luban Workshop in Uzbekistan was successfully launched in 2023 and welcomed by local youth. In the future, Luban Workshop will be committed to enhancing students' vocational and technical abilities, cultivating more high-quality skilled talents, and driving local economic development and improving people's livelihoods. Karimov stated that friendly exchanges between Ukraine and China have a long and rich history. The cooperative relationship between the two countries has been inherited under the framework of jointly building the "the Belt and Road", making contributions to expanding people to people and cultural exchanges and promoting people to people connectivity between the two countries.
