UN Secretary General Guterres stated after the UN Afghanistan Conference held in Doha, Qatar on the 19th that representatives reached a consensus on the Afghanistan issue, but the deadlock still exists. Guterres said at a press conference after the meeting that the international community hopes to see a peaceful Afghanistan, and all parties have reached consensus on the process of achieving this goal. At the same time, there are still some obstacles that need to be overcome to overcome the impasse in the Afghan issue, as Afghanistan has not integrated into global institutions and the global economy in many aspects. Guterres emphasized the need to break the deadlock on the Afghanistan issue, develop a common roadmap, and address the concerns of the international community and Afghan authorities. This meeting was chaired by Guterres and attended by representatives from more than 20 countries and international organizations, including China, Russia, and the United States. The invited interim government of Afghanistan did not send representatives to attend. Yue Xiaoyong, the special envoy of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Afghanistan at the meeting, stated in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that China is actively addressing regional hot issues. On the issue of Afghanistan, China will continue to work together with neighboring countries and the international community to help Afghanistan achieve peace and stability as soon as possible. Yue Xiaoyong also stated that China calls on the United States to unfreeze Afghan overseas assets as soon as possible and lift unilateral sanctions against Afghanistan. (Lai Xin She)
