January 27th this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. From the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1964, to the establishment of a comprehensive partnership in 1997, and then to the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2004, although China France relations have experienced ups and downs, they have always been at the forefront of cooperation between China and Western powers. This has not only driven the healthy development of China Europe relations, but also provided good reference for exchanges between countries around the world. Against the backdrop of the accelerated evolution of the world's century long changes, it is timely to continuously enrich and expand the new era connotation of China France and China Europe relations. The increasing frequency and highlights of high-level exchanges are playing a strategic leading role in continuously expanding the new era connotation of China France and China Europe relations. For the past 60 years, the heads of state and government of China and France have maintained close interaction, timely communication and coordination on the development of bilateral relations and major international issues. The two countries have established more than 30 bilateral consultation or dialogue mechanisms. Premier Li Qiang chose to visit France and attend the New Global Financing Compact Summit for his first visit after taking office. China and France have successfully held strategic, economic, financial, and cultural dialogues, reaching a series of important consensus. China France and China Europe relations are not targeted, dependent, or subject to third parties. If both sides work together, camp confrontation cannot be initiated, and a new cold war cannot be fought. Joining hands to uphold multilateralism and demonstrate the responsibility of major powers is the essence of continuously expanding the new era of China France and China Europe relations. In recent years, international relations and rules have faced challenges, new and old contradictions have become intertwined, regional hotspots have emerged one after another, unilateralism and populism have emerged, and global governance deficits and trust deficits have increased without reduction. The challenges of the times call for China, France, and China Europe to jointly fill out the answer sheet. Both China and France are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, sharing broad common interests and responsibilities. In 2015, the two countries worked together to promote the historic Paris Agreement reached at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, making a historic decision at a critical moment concerning the well-being of all mankind, injecting positive energy into global governance cooperation. Faced with the resurgence of the Israeli Palestinian conflict and the prolonged crisis in Ukraine, the combined effects may trigger global crises such as refugees, energy, and food security. China and France need to further coordinate and cooperate closely, and jointly play a positive role in promoting the cooling of the situation and maintaining world peace and stability. We have reason to believe that the path of maintaining global multilateral cooperation and jointly addressing challenges may not be smooth sailing, but the prospects are still bright. Deepening pragmatic cooperation and achieving mutual benefit and win-win results is an important path to continuously expand the connotation of the new era of China France and China Europe relations. China, France, and China Europe have strong economic complementarity and enormous potential for cooperation. China's unwavering deepening of high-level opening-up to the outside world has also provided new opportunities for expanding cooperation between China, France, and China Europe.
