On December 25th, the reporter learned that in order to accelerate the implementation and application of new models of cybersecurity insurance, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued a notice to organize the pilot work of cybersecurity insurance services. It is reported that, based on the current types of network security insurance in China, the pilot insurance mainly includes two categories: network security property insurance and network security liability insurance. Network security property insurance mainly covers direct losses caused by network security incidents to the first party and the resulting technical service fees. The content includes direct physical losses, business interruption losses, data asset reset costs, hardware improvement costs, emergency response costs, as well as public relations expenses and legal expenses caused by network security incidents. Network security liability insurance mainly guarantees the compensation liability that third-party individuals or institutions need to bear due to network security incidents. The content includes responsibilities for data leakage, network security incidents, media infringement, outsourcing related responsibilities, product or technical service professional responsibilities, etc. By organizing pilot network security insurance services, we can improve the network security risk management system, establish a sound network security insurance process mechanism, and promote the standardized and healthy development of network security insurance. At the same time, we will innovate a batch of network security insurance products, cultivate a group of high-quality network security insurance institutions, and form a batch of replicable and promotable network security insurance solutions.
