Photographed by Zhang Zhiyong/Bright Picture UN Secretary General Guterres warned in his speech at the international conference this month that the opportunity for the world to achieve the goal of sustainable development is slipping away. At the conference, many international dignitaries called on all countries to conduct open and practical cooperation. Finland has been ranked first in the list of sustainable development countries by the United Nations report for two consecutive years. The sustainable development cooperation between China and Finland enjoys a good momentum and a promising prospect, which is of certain exemplary significance to the current global sustainable development cooperation. In 2022, Finland ranked first in the United Nations Sustainable Development Report for the second year in a row. According to the report, Finland is particularly outstanding in terms of sustainable social development. It has achieved its goals in poverty reduction, clean and affordable energy and high-quality education, and is close to achieving the goals of reducing inequality, promoting gender equality, decent work and economic growth, peace and the rule of law. Eva Felman, Secretary General of the Sustainable Development Commission of the Prime Minister's Office of Finland, said in an interview with Guangming Daily: "Since Finland's independence for more than 100 years, it has developed from a poor country with low welfare to a rich country with high welfare and high sense of happiness, depending on our choice of what we call sustainable development today." Tian Mako, head of Greater China of the Finnish National Bureau of Commerce, said: "The concept of sustainability is embedded in the DNA of Finns, which is why Finland has become the happiest and most sustainable country in the world." Felman said that when Finland became independent in 1918, the concept of sustainable development had not yet appeared, but Finland's sustainable development path began at that time. In terms of higher education, employment and higher vocational posts, we have been committed to achieving gender, ethnic and cultural equality for a long time, ensuring social trust and solidarity. Finns have broad consensus on sustainable development and take active actions. In 1993, Finland established the National Commission for Sustainable Development led by the Prime Minister to coordinate cooperation among all parties. The current Finnish government is actively committed to and promoting sustainable development, while cities and municipalities are more active. Together, these factors have contributed to Finland's strong performance in many sustainable development goals. From another perspective, Tamako said that Finland had formulated laws and regulations to promote natural protection and sustainable development long before independence. In 1886, Finland promulgated the first forest law to prohibit excessive logging. "Finland has many lakes and forests, and we cherish their value very much." Tianmako said that ensuring sustainable development requires technical support, and Finland is in the forefront. With a view to the future, technological innovation is more important, and the importance of digitalization is increasingly highlighted. On the whole, Finland's digitalization development is strong, and industrial digitalization has become a key technological advantage. In addition, Finland has many innovations in the field of new materials. Finland is committed to waste oil in textile production,
