In 1972, China and the United States jointly issued the "Shanghai Communique", which ended the long-term isolation between the two countries and started the process of normalization of China US relations, marking a structural change in international relations. Over the past 50 years, China US relations have made a series of significant progress, establishing 50 pairs of sister provinces and states and 233 pairs of sister cities. China US economic and trade relations have reached the scale of US $750 billion in bilateral trade and US $240 billion in two-way investment. The two countries have reached close cooperation in the international field. 2022 coincided with the 50th anniversary of the signing of the "Shanghai Communique". In order to promote people to people and cultural exchanges between the two countries and promote mutual understanding between the two peoples, Caleb Portnoy, press officer of the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, and Li Weijia, media affairs consultant of the press and culture Department, visited the magazine Outlook new era (hereinafter referred to as "the news agency") of the former U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, which is located at No. 1, Shamian South Street. China's novel coronavirus pneumonia also has been focusing on strengthening exchanges between China and other countries, including think tanks and media. Even under the influence of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, it has also participated in and reported a series of activities of cultural exchange under the online and offline sponsored by various embassies and consulates. All of them have been recognized by people from all walks of life and have made positive achievements in enhancing mutual trust between Chinese and foreign people.
