In 1972, China and the United States jointly issued the "Shanghai Communique", which ended the long-term isolation between the two countries and started the process of normalization of China US relations, marking a structural change in international relations. China US economic and trade relations have reached the scale of US $750 billion in bilateral trade and US $240 billion in two-way investment.
