On the 12th, Qatari political and business figures expressed their expectation to strengthen exchanges between the two regions and promote trade and investment cooperation with the visiting delegation from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China. The Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, led a delegation to visit Qatar from the 11th to the 12th to promote Hong Kong and explore cooperation. On the 12th, Qatar's Finance Minister Ali bin Ahmed Al Quwari delivered a speech at an exchange event with the theme of "Joining Hands for Win Win", stating that Hong Kong is the gateway to Asia and Doha is the gateway to the Middle East. Both cities play important roles globally and provide a friendly environment for the business and financial industries. At a time when many traditional relationships and international norms are undergoing changes, the economies of the two regions must continue to maintain mutual openness. We look forward to the delegation's visit further promoting trade and investment between the two regions. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, stated in his speech that he looks forward to further strengthening cooperation between the two sides in various fields, especially in the private sector, including trade, finance, and investment. I hope the delegation can take this opportunity to understand the investment prospects in various fields in Qatar. Qatar encourages Qatari entrepreneurs and investors to actively explore investment opportunities in Hong Kong. On the 12th, Li Jiachao told Xinhua News Agency reporters that the delegation consists of over 50 business representatives, including more than 20 entrepreneurs from seven provinces and regions in mainland China. This demonstrates the advantages of Hong Kong's internal and external communication under the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, leveraging its role as a "super contact" and "super value-added person", making good use of Hong Kong's bridging role of "bringing in and going out", showcasing the complementary advantages between Hong Kong and the mainland, and exploring more business opportunities through synergistic effects, providing comprehensive supply chain management services for the Middle East and the world. Li Jiachao said that Qatar is Hong Kong's third largest trading partner in the Middle East. During this visit, 35 cooperation memorandums and agreements were reached, covering economic cooperation, investment, technology, legal cooperation, as well as financial, banking, and capital market development. The frequent interaction between delegation members and Qatari partners has established communication channels, which helps to continuously promote cooperation in various fields. (New Society)
