The 9th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States Education Ministers' Meeting was held on the 13th in Urumqi, Xinjiang. Various parties had extensive and in-depth exchanges on the theme of "Joining hands in education cooperation, promoting inclusiveness and mutual learning, and jointly building a sustainable SCO homeland". Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng stated that China's education has always adhered to opening up to the outside world. He is willing to take this session of the Education Ministers' Meeting as an opportunity to share the experience of sustainable development in education with member countries, build new platforms for cooperation, enrich new connotations of cooperation, expand new areas of cooperation, and create a better future for education cooperation. During the meeting, representatives from various countries introduced major reforms and strategic development measures in the field of education in member countries since the previous Education Ministers' Meeting, as well as the priority development directions for cooperation in the field of education among member countries. All parties appreciate China's initiative to cooperate in vocational and higher education within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and believe that this will deepen cooperation in the field of education among SCO member states. They are willing to jointly explore the mode and direction of SCO education cooperation, and promote people to people exchanges through education cooperation. The meeting reviewed and approved the minutes of the second meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University Coordination Committee on April 23, 2025, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University Digital Education Development Plan, the Urumqi Initiative of the 9th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States Education Ministers' Meeting, and the Joint Communique of the 9th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States Education Ministers' Meeting, agreeing to allow Belarus to host the 10th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States Education Ministers' Meeting. In addition, the meeting signed the "Minutes of the 9th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States' Education Ministers' Meeting" and unveiled the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization National Digital Education Alliance and the China Shanghai Cooperation Organization Doctoral Training Innovation Center. The conference is hosted by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and attended by representatives from China, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and representatives from the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
