Jade live streaming room encountered tricks and was scammed out of over 400000 yuan in 15 days

In December 2023, a Tiktok message of "free jade identification" attracted Ms. Wang's attention. Ms. Wang added WeChat of "jadeite appraiser" according to the information guidance. "jadeite appraiser" patiently provided Ms. Wang with identification services, and sent a direct broadcast link to Ms. Wang to recommend him to learn jade knowledge in the broadcast room. A few days later, Ms. Wang entered the live broadcast room and saw an "expert" explaining jade knowledge, and received small gifts and welfare benefits from the live broadcast room, which led to her trust in him. In addition to explaining jade knowledge, the live broadcast room also offers a "jade sales agency" service. The so-called "jade consignment" refers to the situation where the host purchases raw stones at the China Myanmar border, the fans subscribe with funds, and the host contacts for sales. The live broadcast room earns intermediary fees, and the profits from the sale of raw stones belong to the fans, known as "100% profit". Ms. Wang tried several times and indeed received rebates. She gradually lowered her guard and participated more and more times, resulting in higher prices for the raw stones she purchased. A week later, Ms. Wang spotted three raw stones in the live broadcast room and bought them for 275000 yuan, 99000 yuan, and 71000 yuan respectively. The anchor and WeChat customer service told Ms. Wang that buying and selling raw stones can only make a profit from the price difference. If the raw stones are processed by them and then sold, the profit will be higher. Ms. Wang was moved by the words and chose to process it, signing a processing authorization letter that was at her own risk and could not be refunded. However, this time the anchor kept delaying the sale due to reasons such as "Myanmar war" and "anchor injury", ultimately stating that the quality of the jade offered was poor and sending inferior finished jade. Ms. Wang realized that she had been deceived and reported it to the public security organs. In March 2024, Lu and other three suspect were captured in Ruili, Yunnan Province. After investigation, between December 2023 and January 2024, Lu, Song, and Fu formed a jade live streaming team. They first placed advertisements for "free jade appraisal" on the internet to attract traffic. After the victim added a WeChat friend, they guided the other party into the live streaming room and used the language of "anchor" and "water army" to create the illusion of "jade sales and guaranteed profits". In the early stage, no matter how much the victim invests, they will receive a "selling rebate". After investing a large amount of money, Lu and others will start the lure processing mode, ultimately stating that "the finished product is not good and the investment has failed", in order to achieve the goal of defrauding property. In fact, the so-called jade raw stones sold in the live broadcast room are all display props rented from jade specialty stores, and the so-called processed jade products are low-priced jade directly purchased from the local jade market. We also know that this is fraud, but we are just taking chances and thinking that if we sign the authorization letter, the victim will accept their misfortune. After the incident, Mr. Lu, Mr. Song, and Mr. Fu compensated Ms. Wang for her economic losses and obtained her forgiveness. In January of this year, the People's Procuratorate of Cixi City, Zhejiang Province, prosecuted three people including Lu on suspicion of fraud. Recently, the court sentenced Mr. Lu to three years in prison, suspended for five years, and fined him RMB 50000 for fraud; Sentenced Song to two years and eight months imprisonment, suspended for three years and six months, and fined RMB 30000; Fu was sentenced to two years and six months in prison, suspended for three years, and fined RMB 20000. The handling prosecutor reminds that it is difficult to distinguish the authenticity of online live streaming, and easy luck is often a wealth trap carefully woven by others. Remember: Anyone who claims to have "zero risk and high return" must hide their sharp edge, be extremely careful, and stay away. (outlook new era)
