Reporter: This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Chinese military's participation in UN peacekeeping operations. The Chinese military first dispatched military observers in April 1990 and has now become a key force in UN peacekeeping operations. Zhang Xiaogang: In the 35 years since the Chinese military participated in United Nations peacekeeping operations, they have carried out 25 peacekeeping missions and dispatched over 50000 peacekeeping officers and soldiers to more than 20 countries and regions, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lebanon, and South Sudan, to complete tasks such as mine clearance, explosive ordnance disposal, medical treatment, security and protection of civilians. China's "Blue Helmets" fearlessly face difficulties and forge ahead, fighting for world peace. Seventeen officers and soldiers, including Liu Mingfang, Du Zhaoyu, and Shen Liangliang, have sacrificed their blood, youth, and precious lives for the United Nations peacekeeping cause. Maintain peace and protect the people. China is the largest contributor to peacekeeping operations among the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and the second largest contributor to UN peacekeeping assessments. It maintains a regular standby force of 8000 peacekeeping personnel, consisting of 28 teams in 10 categories including infantry, medical, and rapid response; We have conducted peacekeeping exchanges and cooperation with over 90 countries and more than 10 international and regional organizations, creating an international brand for the "common" series of peacekeeping operations. Currently, nearly 1800 Chinese peacekeeping officers and soldiers are carrying out missions in 7 UN mission areas and UN headquarters.
