On April 23rd, the press conference for the Shenzhou-20 manned flight mission was held at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. In the Shenzhou 20 manned spacecraft mission, the core component of the personal radiation dose meter worn by the astronauts was the cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) detector developed by Professor Jie Wanqi's team from the School of Materials Science and Technology at Northwestern Polytechnical University. CZT is an excellent room temperature radiation detection semiconductor material. The detector prepared based on CZT material has high sensitivity and fast response speed, and can accurately measure radiation data. It is of great significance for ensuring the health of astronauts and scientific research on space environment. Professor Jie Wanqi's team has been engaged in long-term research on semiconductor materials, device preparation, application technology, and industrialization for X and gamma ray detection and imaging. The team has developed products multiple times to support the development of China's aerospace industry. This mission is the fifth manned flight mission in the application and development stage of the space station, and also the 35th manned space engineering flight mission. The crew of Shenzhou 20 astronauts consists of Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui, and Wang Jie, with Chen Dong serving as the commander. Chen Dong, an astronaut and alumnus of Xi'an Jiaotong University, has performed manned missions on Shenzhou 11 and Shenzhou XIV, and once again served as commander after two years. This time, he will fly three times. Previously, Chen Dong returned to his alma mater and brought the "power of dreams" to his younger students. Chen Dong said, "Actually, space exploration is not far away from us. The mission of astronauts is to use their hands to achieve the ideals of many people, for the country and the people. Every astronaut is a hero, whether they go into space or not, because of everyone's joint efforts, the progress and development of our country's space industry can be achieved
